API Lifecycle - Management

In addition to monitoring traffic via an API Manager, policies application at runtime is critical to ensure the application building blocks follow best practices in security and architectural governance1.

API Management Steps

The following steps are part of API management:

  1. Secure
  2. Deploy
  3. Monitor
  4. Troubleshoot
  5. Manage

The APIs need to be discoverable to be reused for other purposes. This is necessitated by appropriately publishing them so they can be discovered, researched, and understood.
